This posting is meant to outline the benefits of a litter-less or waste free lunch for everyone involved.

What is a litter-less lunch? According to EcoSchools it is a lunch that “contains no throwaway packaging or food leftovers. As a first prioriy, lunches are packed in servings that will be completely eaten. To avoid any packaging, all food and drinks are packed in reusable containers within a reusable lunch bag or box. All containers are resealable, so that leftover food and drink that is not eaten can be consumed (or composted) later.”

Schools across the United States and Canada are starting their own litter-less lunches and Litter-less Lunch Fundraisers and for good reason:

Schools

Students are taught a very simple and effective means of implementing the 3 R’s.

Simplifies the clean-up time needed during lunch hours.

Are able to proudly quantify the waste they successfully averted.

Help to raise funds that can be used to help fund a green team, start a school garden and composting system or for other great uses.

School Boards

Reduce waste disposal fees. Up to 75% of school waste comes from the lunch room.

Alleviate the work load of custodians board-wide.

Parents

Due to investments in products such as reusable containers and purchasing food in bulk rather than single serving sizes, families quickly begin to see the savings.

Are provided with affordable, non-toxic products to help make packing a litter-less lunch easy.

Environment

It goes without saying that by reducing, reusing and recycling, our environment stand to benefit.

We hope that you will consider litter-less lunches and Koru Fundraising as a way to celebrate Earth Day on April 22 this year.

All the best,

Corey

Koru Fundraising offers to help Haiti through the sale of Relief Beads

The company will be donating $1 for each bracelet sold until Valentine’s Day.

It has been with great sadness to see the continued images arriving in from the incomprehensible loss happening in Haiti. Wednesday will most definitely be a day people will remember. It is a tragedy that has affected so many lives. As of Monday, there were over 1,000,000 homeless in Haiti, Canada was missing 1,415 citizens, many of whom live in the Toronto area. The outpouring of support both from the public community as well as the business community has been wonderful to see.

The Koru Fundraising team has spent much of the past few days looking to find the best way for our organization to help. After much deliberation, Koru Fundraising has decided to donate $1 for every Relief Bead sold between now and Valentine’s Day. This means that groups who use the Relief Bead fundraiser over the next four weeks will not only being raising funds with a wonderful, unique product, they will be helping relief efforts in in the devastated country of Haiti. We are encouraging groups to donate a portion of their funds raised to Haiti as well. After Valentine’s Day, Koru Fundraising will likely be directing relief funds to the continued humanitarian crisis in the region of Darfur through Relief International. Through the power of many fundraising groups working to raise funds that they would already be raising, we expect a significant amount of funds to be raised. Our goal is to sell 10,000 bracelets between today and February 14th. There is no upfront cost or financial risk to a participating group. Details of the program can be found at http://korufundraising.com/programs/reliefbeadsfundraiser/ . We hope that our efforts can help to better the lives of all those less fortunate.

With this strategy for raising funds, Koru Fundraising believes that many groups will see our Relief Bead fundraiser as the choice for fundraising over the next month. The suggested groups to work with are high school global issue groups, dance teams, gymnastics and sports teams. We encourage non-profits of all types to contact us today to enquire about our different green fundraising and fair trade fundraising programs. The Koru Fundraising team can be reached at 1.877.795.5678, info@korufundraising.com or at www.korufundraising.com

About Koru Fundraising – Koru Fundraising provides fundraising programs to schools and other non-profits as a way to raise money responsibly. A variety of programs are built to help groups raise funds consistent with their values, whether it be with green fundraising programs or fair trade fundraising programs. The company provides profits of 40% for participating groups. Koru Fundraising is a proud member of 1% For The Planet and supports Bicycles for Humanity, Return to Freedom and Water Aid. Koru Fundraising also offers a complimentary set of educational resources to help groups take their fundraiser one step further. The company is based in Toronto, Ontario and Austin, Texas and works with groups in both countries.
