Disposable Plastic Baggies!

1 box of 50 zip-lock bags costs roughly $4. Let’s say you use 3 every day for
an entire year. That’s 1,095 bags! And, let’s face it, if you use plastic baggies
you use them for everything. That adds up to a minimum of $90 per year for
something that is thrown away!

Jorge Preito Celebrates Earth Day!

The students at Jorge Prieto in Chicago held several activities to celebrate Earth Day! Students participated in a poster contest where they demonstrated the 3 R’s. They chalked up the sidewalks around our school with tips for healthy green living. They kicked off their Garden club where students had the opportunity to learn about plating, soil and healthy organic eating. Many students particpated in an Earth Day 5K on the weekend and had the opportunity to sing Happy Birthday to the Earth. Overall the students have learned alot about living Green. All this was during the green fundraiser!

Ferguson Elementary ~ How They Are Celebrating Earth Week

The Koru Team would like to congratulate Ferguson Elementary for the great activities they have planned for Earth Week! Some activities include :

Tuesday – Show you Care About our Planet. Wear your favorite CAP to school

Wednesday – Bring a “Litterless Lunch”. Participants get a small prize.

Thursday – Make our school GREEN. Wear everything the color green. The class in each grade with the most green clothing items gets a pizza party.

Friday – Recycle your old batteries in the Battery Bin in the atrium.
